Comprehensive VA Healthcare Services
Did you know that veterans may qualify for long-term, in-home care services through the Veterans Health Administration (VHA)? The VA offers the Homemaker and Home Health Aide (H/HHA) program, providing essential support for veterans to remain independent in their own homes.
VA Homemaker & Home Health Aide (H/HHA) Services
The H/HHA program enhances veterans’ quality of life by offering assistance with daily activities. Skilled home health aides work with contracted home care agencies to provide personalized care, companionship, and support for both veterans and their families.
This program can also be combined with other VA home and community-based services to create a comprehensive care plan.
Services Provided by Home Health Aides
Our home health aides provide compassionate assistance with:
- Personal Care: Bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming
- Mobility Assistance: Walking, transfers
- Medication Reminders
- Health Monitoring: Basic wellness checks
- Light Housekeeping & Laundry
- Meal Preparation: Including specialized diets
- Grocery Shopping
- Escorting to Appointments
- Companionship: Emotional support and social interaction
- Respite Care: Support for family caregivers
Eligibility for VA Home Care Services
Veterans enrolled in the VHA Standard Medical Benefits Package may be eligible for the H/HHA program if there’s a clinical need for care. A small copay may apply depending on the veteran’s service-connected disability status. This program can also be combined with other VA Home and Community-Based Services for additional support.
